Despite the torrential thunderstorms that took place Friday night and into the morning hours of Saturday April 20th, rain ultimately gave way to sunshine and upwards of 1200+ people, players, parents, grandparents, and other family showed up to Cantine Memorial Complex to help the Saugerties Little League kick off the 2013 Baseball Season. Fans lined Pavilion Drive to cheer on the players and thank our special guest community leaders that agreed to spend time with us that day!I would like to extend a special thanks to the following people that helped the Saugerties Little League Board make this happen!! The American Legion Color Guard: Bob Quirk, Jim Gage, Charlie Taylor and Kevin Burgher Special Guests: Gladys Hutton, former Little League President (escorted by her daughter Joanne), Greg Chorvas, Director of Parks and Recreation, and Erica Fick Guerin, longtime community and Little League sponsor Chief of Police Joseph Sinagra Town Board Member Fred Costello and Saugerties Legislator Mary Wawro Village Mayor Bill Murphy and Village Board Members, Don Hackett, Terry Parisian, and Jeannine Mayer Guest Master of Ceremonies, Lieutenant Steve Filak The field crew of Cantine without whom we would not have been able to pull it off that day: Brett Baschnagel, Randy Nilsen, Keith Hartrum, Rob Kleeman, and Sean Weaver And of course the players and their families, all of whom have a love of Saugerties and baseball. Thanks to everyone.

PRESS RELEASE: ROAD CLOSURES
Please be advised, and make note, of road closures within the Cantine Veterans Sports Complex this upcoming Saturday, April 20, 2013, between 10:30am – 12:30pm., as follows:
PAVILION STREET: From intersection of Court Drive, south to intersection of Bob Moser Drive.
BOB MOSER DRIVE: From intersection of Pavilion Street, west to Market Street.
Saugerties Little League is holding their Opening Day, that day, with a rain date of Sunday, April 21, 2013. As part of their opening day ceremonies, a parade comprised of players, coaches, officials, dignitaries, etc., led by the American Legion Post 72 Color Guard, will kick-off from the parking lot of the Large Pavilion & Conference Center, 12 Pavilion St., at 11:00am and proceed south on Pavilion Street to Bob Moser Drive.
Parking for attendees, will be permitted in the aforementioned areas, prior to 10:30am, however, please be further advised you will not be permitted to leave from said area during time of closure. Additional parking, along with parking after 10:30am, will be accommodated on the east end of Moser Drive, from the intersection of Pavilion Street, east to Washington Avenue; Pavilion Street, at Court Drive, north to Small World Avenue and in Parking Lot “A”, off of Small World Avenue.
Those attending Opening Day, along with others (U.C.C.C. game, etc.) should plan extra time for possible delays and congestion.
In the event of rain on Saturday, the event will be held on Sunday and the same road closures, along with times shall apply.
We kindly ask for the cooperation of everyone planning to be in attendance, at the Complex, and trust you understand these measures are being instituted for the safety and convenience of all and to keep disruption to a minimum.
Next Saturday will be the opening day of the 2013 season. We plan to start the day off with a parade of ALL of the teams in the Saugerties Little League. The parade will begin at 11 am at Cantine Memorial Field. ALL players and coaches should report to the Big Pavilion by 10:45 for line up. Please invite everyone to come on out and support the kids and share in their excitement :-) The parade will by followed by the Little League Pledge and of course our National Anthem. Then it’s PLAY BALL !!!!

Celebrating 67 Years of Little League Excellence
Welcome to the Saugerties Little League established in 1951. We play in New York District 15 of Section 3 – 100 miles north of New York City and 45 miles South of the State Capital, Albany. The league is comprised of over 500 youth baseball and youth softball players ages 5-16 and is host to one of the Hudson Valley’s only Challengers program.
