9-10 Boys Rally Behind Another Strong Start by Pitcher Andrew Reynolds
Saugerties 16 - Hudson 12
After giving up an early 4 run lead (2 earned) in the top of the first, Saugerties rallied back with 7 in the bottom half in tonight’s 28 run affair. The 1st inning rally was highlighted by a beautiful bases loaded bunt from Riley Merritt for an RBI and was followed by a 3 RBI, base-clearing triple by Rick Janssen to the left field wall.
Hudson evened the score with 3 runs in the top of the 2nd to tie the game, but Saugerties responded with 2 more in their half on an RBI fielder's choice by Brandon Salmi, four walks, and with the bases loaded, Janssen "took one for the team" for an RBI hit-by-pitch to give them a lead they would never relinquish.
Saugerties blew the game open in the bottom of the 3rd with 8 more runs rallying behind three straight singles (Reynolds, Evan Normann & Evan Olsen) 4 walks, and a bases clearing double by Jake Roberti.
Sean Costello tripled with one out in the 4th and Alex Horton brought him in with an RBI groundout to first to score the last Saugerties run.
A game Hudson team chipped away at the Saugerties lead with 2 runs in the 4th, 1 run in the 5th, and 2 more in the sixth. With 2 outs in the 6th inning and a runner on first, Hudson hit a hard grounder up the middle that was deflected by pitcher Sean Costello. Normann, at short, scooped up the ball & dove head-first into second base for the game-ending forceout.
Reynolds was relieved with strong outings by Normann, Brandon Numssen, and Costello.
Roberti (2-2) 2 doubles, 3 RBI's; Janssen (1-1) triple, 1 run, 4 RBIs; Reynolds (1-2) single, 2 runs; Normann (1-3) single, 2 runs; Olsen (1-4) single, 2 runs; Costello (1-2) triple, 2 runs; Horton (1-2) single, 3 runs; Merritt (1-2), single, 1 run; Mike Averill (1-2) single; Salmi, Zach Belfance, and Kieran Defino also scored for Saugerties.
Saugerties plays Chatham at Hudson on Thursday 7/7.

Saugerties 9-10 Boys “Rain” Supreme
