Igoe Delivers Strong Start in Saugerties Win Over Hudson
Saugerties 3 - Hudson 2
Brett Igoe pitched a solid 4 innings tonight and Saugerties held on to a 3-2 lead late to
beat Hudson 3-2 in the opening round of the Boys 10-11 series tonight on Fick.
Hudson outhit Saugerties 6 to 3 in the contest but errors and walks were the
difference.
After Igoe closed out a scoreless top half of the first with a strikeout of
Hudson's Mike Green, Gabe Cavallaro singled in the Sawyer home half and would eventually score on a passed ball to
score the game's first run.
Saugerties scored two more in the 3rd when Cavallaro was hit by a pitch and Austin Curlin reached on an error. Both would round the bases on passed balls.
Hudson made it close loading the bases with Cavallaro in relief in the 5th. However, a weak pop up to third was grabbed by Alec Myer to end the threat.
Hudson's Steven Bowes reached on an error in the 6th as Curlin came on to close out the game. Curlin settled to strikeout the side for the save and Sawyer win.
Cavallaro was 2-2 and scored twice. Curlin scored once. Nick Mitchell singled.
Igoe struckout 4 in the win. Hudson starter Antonio Fisher struckout 13 and walked 3 in the loss.
Saugerties will play in Northern Columbia on Saturday 7/16.

Congratulations to our players for a fantastic run in capturing the District 15
Title - and thanks to coaches Kevin McLaren, Jim Speirs and manager Keith
Donah.
